United Arab Emirates Ambassador to the United States, Yousef Al Otaiba, visited Special Olympics athletes and their coaches at Special Olympics USA’s training camp at the University of Delaware in September. Over 300 coaches and athletes are expected to come to Abu Dhabi next year to represent the US during the Special Olympics World Games.
During his visit, Ambassador Al Otaiba joined the athletes in basketball and table tennis teams to participate in drills and other activities. He also wished them luck at the upcoming World Games.
The Ambassador spoke of his country’s pride to be hosting the Special Olympics World Games in 2019 and wished the USA athletes good luck for the event next year.
Athletes from around the US traveled to Delaware in September to meet their teammates and train at the University’s facilities. This is the only time the entire delegation will be together prior to travelling to Abu Dhabi in March.
Chris Hahn, Head of the US Delegation, expressed his gratitude for the support from the UAE Ambassador during the training camp and in lead-up to World Games.
