In July, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 welcomed its newest partner, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB).

Special Olympics athletes Abdalla Al Mansoori, who will be the first Emirati athlete to represent the UAE in tennis at the World Games, and Omar Alshami, a swimmer on the UAE team, joined representatives from FAB and the LOC at a signing ceremony that officially recognised FAB as a Gold Partner.

The agreement was signed by Abdulhamid Saeed, Group Chief Executive Officer of FAB, and Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Managing Director of the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019, at FAB’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

The signing coincided with worldwide celebrations that took place to mark the 50th anniversary of Special Olympics. To mark the occasion, FAB participated in the global ‘Light Up for Inclusion’ initiative, by lighting up its headquarters in red on July 19 and 20.
