17 Reasons Lead

Need a reason to get stand up and volunteer to take part in the biggest sporting event the UAE has ever hosted?

Here’s 17:

Be part of history: Abu Dhabi is the first place in the MENA Region to host the Special Olympics.

You’re an important piece of this puzzle. By volunteering you can help transform lives through the joy of sport.

Because Michael Phelps says you should !

You can’t miss the main event. The Special Olympics World Games is the biggest event put on by the Special Olympics annually.

You can party all year long! The Special Olympics kicks off a year of celebrations for its 50th anniversary starting in July 2018. Not soon enough? The MENA Games are in March too!

You can be an Instagram star. Communications volunteers help create content for social media.

Your help will show the world the spirit of community in Abu Dhabi.

You can see the shiny, new medals up close and in person. Event management volunteers provide support for all medal ceremonies.

It’s your last chance to enjoy winter weather. The MENA Games take place 14th – 23rd March 2018 and the World Games take place 14th – 21st March when it’s still cool in Abu Dhabi.

You can ‘stay at home’ and volunteer. The event itself will take place in Abu Dhabi but volunteers from all seven Emirates are needed for the Host Town program.

There’s no way you’d get over missing the bocce ball competition.

Your outfit of the day (OOTD) is going to be so fly. Volunteers receive an official hat and t-shirt. Here’s a look at the style from Ireland:

Two words: free food. Volunteers receive one complementary meal per shift.

You get proof that you’re a totally awesome individual. Upon completion of assigned hours, volunteers receive a certificate and online transcript of hours worked.

You’ve got what it takes. All you need is your passport, Emirates ID and residency visa (for non-UAE Nationals) to sign up.

There’s lots of hugs and high fives to go around.

Time is money. If you can’t volunteer in person, click here to make a donation .
